LEDucation

A New York gathering where the lighting industry comes to see what’s next.

Illuminating Futures

At LEDucation, GE and a first-year startup work within the same tabletop footprint. There are no island booths, no overhangs, and no way to pay for the center of the hall. The show does almost everything an event is generally advised against — and it sells out the week registration opens, boasting a waitlist that runs near 200 companies.

That equal footprint is only one part of what makes LEDucation different. LEDucation is a non-profit event presented by the Designers Lighting Forum of New York (DLFNY), a not-for-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Managers. Proceeds from the event support lighting education through awards, grants, scholarships, and other educational initiatives.

LEDucation has grown dramatically since its 2007 debut with 31 exhibitor tables and about 350 attendees. It now runs three connected levels of the New York Hilton — a freight-heavy, multi-floor production in a midtown hotel with no ground-level loading dock, where everything moves on elevators shared with the building next door. In 2027, LEDucation expands to three days.

The partners around the show have had to scale with it. AEX has been LEDucation’s event operations partner through most of that growth, from tabletops light enough to carry in by hand to a production that fills the Hilton.

The footprint has stayed compact. The scale around it has not.

Quick Answers

LEDucation is a New York-based lighting marketplace and educational event presented by the Designers Lighting Forum of New York (DLFNY).

Exhibitors work within consistent, compact footprints rather than traditional large booth spaces. That creates a dense show floor where hundreds of brands can present their work within the same basic framework.

The event attracts lighting designers, architects, engineers, design specifiers, interior designers, manufacturers, educators, students, and other professionals across the lighting industry.
